ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ by the grace of the Divine (every kind of hunger is stilled)
ਅਨੰਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
ana(n)dh bhiaa meree maae satiguroo mai paiaa ||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਅਲੌਕਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ (ਅਨੰਦ) ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥
O mother, I am in bliss as I found satguru, the true guide.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀਆ ਵਾਧਾਈਆ ॥
satigur ta paiaa sahaj setee man vajeeaa vaadhaieeaa ||
ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ, ਉਸ ਪਰਮ ਤੱਤ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਸਹਿਜ ਸੁਭਾਅ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਾਰਨ) ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਦਾ ਗਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥
That's why (ਤ) the riddle of Eternal is solved with effortless natural poise and my mind is filled with rings of jubilation
ਰਾਗ ਰਤਨ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਪਰੀਆ ਸਬਦ ਗਾਵਣ ਆਈਆ ॥

ਸੰਗੀਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੁਰੀਲੀਆਂ ਸੁਰ-ਸੰਗਤੀਆਂ (ਪਰੀਆਂ), ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ 'ਨਾਮ' ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ ॥
Every exquisite melody and its chorus of harmonies has arrived to sing the Eternal Word within.
ਸਬਦੋ ਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਹਰੀ ਕੇਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
sabadho ta gaavahu haree keraa man jinee vasaiaa ||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮ ਤੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਿਰਫ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਨਾਮੁ) ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
They sing the word (NAAM) who have imbued the mind with the Truth.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

ਤੀਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਪਰਮ ਅਨੰਦ (ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੁਖ) ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥
Says Nanak, I am in bliss as I found SatGuru (the revealer of Eternal and guide) .
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਦਾਤੇ) ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਰਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਸ 'ਸਤਿਨਾਮ' ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ॥
O mind, be always with the Har (Source of life). (always keep the SatNaam in mind).
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਰਹੁ ਤੂ ਮੰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੂਖ ਸਭਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਾ ॥
har naal rahu too ma(n)n mere dhookh sabh visaaranaa ||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਰੋਤ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ॥
O mind, always stay mindful of the Source , and it take care of all the sorrows.
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਓਹੁ ਕਰੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਾ ॥
a(n)geekaar oh kare teraa kaaraj sabh savaaranaa ||
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਕਦਮ 'ਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਭਾਏਗਾ (ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ), ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਆਪ-ਮੁਹਾਰੇ ਰਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ॥
He will accompany you everywhere, and all your affairs shall be resolved.
ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥
sabhanaa galaa samarath suaamee so kiau manahu visaare ||
ਉਹ ਪਰਮ ਤੱਤ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਮਨੋਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ?
The Supreme is all capable, so why forget Him ever?
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੨॥
kahai naanak ma(n)n mere sadhaa rahu har naale ||2||
ਤੀਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ (ਓਟ) ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਪਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖ
Says Nanak, o mind, be always in His presence (remember Him).
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥
saache saahibaa kiaa naahee ghar terai ||
ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ! ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ? ਭਾਵ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ॥
My true Supreme, what is there that you don't have (He provides everything).
ਘਰਿ ਤ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਪਾਵਏ ॥
ghar ta terai sabh kichh hai jis dheh su paave ||
ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥
You have everything, they receive whom you provide.
ਸਦਾ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਏ ॥
sadhaa sifat salaeh teree naam man vasaave ||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਸ 'ਨਾਮ' ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
Always praising and glorifying, They keep the NAAM in their mind
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਬਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਇਲਾਹੀ 'ਨਾਮ' ਵੱਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਨੋ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਸਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਗੂੰਜ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
When the Divine Name dwells inside the mind, the heart becomes a sanctuary where endless celestial harmonies vibrate.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
kahai naanak sache saahib kiaa naahee ghar terai ||3||
ਤੀਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ! ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ? ਭਾਵ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ॥

'ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ' ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਅਸਲੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ॥
The Eternal Truth is my ultimate refuge and the true support of my life.
ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੁਖਾ ਸਭਿ ਗਵਾਈਆ ॥
saach naam adhaar meraa jin bhukhaa sabh gavaieeaa ||
ਉਹ 'ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ' ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਅਸਲੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਖਾਂ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ) ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥
The Eternal Truth is my ultimate sustenance; it has completely dissolved all the hungers (needs, worries or anxities).
ਕਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਛਾ ਸਭਿ ਪੁਜਾਈਆ ॥
kar saa(n)t sukh man aai vasiaa jin ichhaa sabh pujaieeaa ||
ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ (ਲਾਲਸਾਵਾਂ) ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥
ਨੋਟ: ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥
ਨੋਟ: ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥
It has brought profound peace and joy to dwell within my mind, completely fulfilling every inner desire.

ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆ ਏਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥
sadhaa kurabaan keetaa guroo viTahu jis dheeaa eh vaddiaaieeaa ||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ (ਸ਼ਬਦ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਖਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਇਹ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਹਨ ॥
ਮਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋਣਾ, ਭੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਟਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਕਣਾ—ਇਹ ਸਭ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਜਾਂ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋਣਾ, ਭੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਟਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਕਣਾ—ਇਹ ਸਭ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਜਾਂ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਹੈ।
I am forever a sacrifice to the Word, whose divine grace bestows these magnificent blessings.

ਤੀਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ—ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਇਲਾਹੀ 'ਸ਼ਬਦ' ਲਈ ਸੱਚਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੋ। ਉਹ 'ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ' ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਅਸਲੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ॥
Says Nanak, listen, O seekers of truth! Enshrine deep love for the Sacred Word within your hearts; for the True Name alone is the ultimate anchor of my life.

The symphonies of that Supreme Word (NAAM) began to resonate within that fortunate mind (home).
ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਕਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥
ghar sabhaagai sabadh vaaje kalaa jit ghar dhaareeaa ||
ਉਸ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਹਨ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗੂੰਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਉਸ ਘਰ (ਮਨ) ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥
Fortunate are the homes of the heart where the Divine Word echoes, for within that mind, the Divine has manifested His ultimate blessing.
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥

ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਪੰਜ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ (ਦੂਤਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਡਰ (ਕਾਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਚੁਭਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਡੇ) ਨੂੰ ਜੜ੍ਹੋਂ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥
The five shadow-vices are now subdued within you, and the painful sting of mortality has been forever vanquished.
ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹੋਂ (ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ) ਤੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦ ਇਹ ਉੱਤਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਇਲਾਹੀ 'ਨਾਮ' ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਦ (ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ) ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
Those who have such pre-ordained blessing of Naam, attune to Naam when that predetermined time arrives
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਆ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ॥੫॥
kahai naanak teh sukh hoaa tit ghar anahadh vaaje ||5||
ਤੀਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਪਰਮ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ (ਜਿੱਥੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੁਖ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਰੂਪੀ ਨਾਦ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਗੂੰਜਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
Nanak proclaims: in that supreme state where the blessing of the Name manifests, the mind realizes eternal peace, and the timeless sound-current of the Divine Name continuously resonates within the sanctuary of the heart.
ਸਾਚੀ ਲਿਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ॥
saachee livai bin dheh nimaanee ||
ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ, ਨਿਤਾਣੀ ਹੈ ॥
Devoid of the True Name, the human body is but a hollow vessel—powerless and wandering without true worth.
ਦੇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਲਿਵੈ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਵੇਚਾਰੀਆ ॥
dheh nimaanee livai baajhahu kiaa kare vechaareeaa ||
ਸੱਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਹੈ; ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਦੇਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ) ਹੋਰ ਕਰ ਵੀ ਕੀ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
Without being attuned to the Truth, the body is entirely powerless; what can this fragile vessel do but wander.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਸਮਰਥ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਬਨਵਾਰੀਆ ॥
tudh baajh samarath koi naahee kirapaa kar banavaareeaa ||
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਜਾਂ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ; ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਬਣਤਰ ਬਣਾ, ਭਾਵ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਕਰ ॥
O Sustainer of the Cosmos, You alone hold all sovereign power; in Your boundless mercy, weave the path of my final exit.
ਏਸ ਨਉ ਹੋਰੁ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਸਵਾਰੀਆ ॥
es nau hor thaau naahee sabadh laag savaareeaa ||
ਇਸ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਕੋਲ (ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਧਾਰ ਲਈ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ; ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸਵਾਰੀ, ਭਾਵ ਉੱਜਲ-ਮੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
This fragile life has no other sanctuary to turn to; only through total absorption in the Sacred Name can it be redeemed, sanctified, and aligned to its true purpose.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਲਿਵੈ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਵੇਚਾਰੀਆ ॥੬॥

ਤੀਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਲਾਚਾਰ ਹੈ; ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਦੇਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ) ਹੋਰ ਕਰ ਵੀ ਕੀ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਆਨੰਦੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥
aana(n)dh aana(n)dh sabh ko kahai aana(n)dh guroo te jaaniaa ||
ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਅਨੰਦ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥
Everyone repeats 'bliss, bliss' and says that this bliss is received from the Guru.
ਜਾਣਿਆ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥
jaaniaa aana(n)dh sadhaa gur te kirapaa kare piaariaa ||
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਫਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਨਹੀਂ, ਅਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ ਕਰਤੇ (ਗੁਰੁ) ਤੋਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
The Guru counters this claim, revealing that true bliss is a sacred benediction bestowed solely through divine grace.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਟੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
kar kirapaa kilavikh kaTe giaan a(n)jan saariaa ||
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ) ॥
Showering His grace, He severed the bonds of my past transgressions and blessed my vision with the sacred balm of knowledge, illuminating the inner darkness.
ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਤੁਟਾ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੈ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
a(n)dharahu jin kaa moh tuTaa tin kaa sabadh sachai savaariaa ||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਣ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
They who break free from the internal bonds of worldly attachment find their existence exalted and refined by the divine Word.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਏਹੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
kahai naanak eh ana(n)dh hai aana(n)dh gur te jaaniaa ||7||
ਤੀਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਫਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇਹੀ ਅਸਲੀ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਪਛਾਣ) ਕੇਵਲ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਗੁਰੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ॥
The Third Nanak declares this to be the ultimate divine ecstasy—a celestial bliss awakened exclusively through the wisdom of the sacred Word.
