dha(n)dhaa karatiaa nihafal janam gavaiaa sukhadhaataa man na vasaiaa ||

ghar hee meh a(n)mrit bharapoor hai manmukhaa saadh na paiaa ||
The ambrosial nectar of the Divine Name is fully permeating inside the heart (home) of every human being, but the self-willed individuals (Manmukhs) who follow their own minds cannot experience its flavor due to ignorance and ego.
jiau kasatooree mirag na jaanai bhramadhaa bharam bhulaiaa ||

Just as the musk deer is unaware of the fragrance hidden within its own navel and, driven by illusion, wanders through the forests searching for its source.

Note: Naturally, the male musk deer has a special gland near its abdomen (navel), inside which a highly valuable and intensely fragrant substance is formed, called musk (Kastoori).

The deer is drawn toward its fragrance and roams all around to find it, but remains unaware that this musk resides within its own navel.

According to folklore:

Captivating Fragrance: As the deer matures, a highly captivating and divine fragrance begins to emanate from its very own body.

The External Search: The deer becomes completely enchanted by this scent. However, possessing an animalistic intellect, it fails to understand that this fragrance belongs to no external object, but rather comes from deep within itself.

Restless Wandering: Thinking that this scent originates from some plant or bush in the forest, it begins to run frantically to locate its source. It wanders restlessly through dense forests, thorny bushes, and rugged mountains, injuring itself and ultimately collapsing from sheer exhaustion.

Realization of Reality: According to the story, when it is on its very last breaths and falls down exhausted, its nose moves close to its own navel. Only then does it realize that the treasure for whose scent it spent its entire life wandering through the forests had eternally existed right inside of it.

In Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the state of the human mind is described through this popular metaphor:

The Musk (Fragrance) is the Divine Name (Naam) which resides within the heart of every human being ("The ambrosial nectar is fully permeating inside the home of the self").

The Forest is Worldly Illusion (Maya): Human beings keep searching for that Divine Name in external rituals, pilgrimages, material possessions, money, or relationships.

The Deer is the Self-Willed Person (Manmukh): Driven by delusion, the Manmukh continues to wander outwardly just like that deer.
a(n)mrit taj bikh sa(n)grahai karatai aap khuaaiaa ||
The self-willed individual (Manmukh) forsakes the life-giving ambrosial nectar of the Divine Name and continues to gather the poison of worldly illusion (Maya), because the Divine Supreme Himself has led them astray from the righteous path (until it is their turn).
gurmukh virale sojhee piee tinaa a(n)dhar braham dhikhaiaa ||
Only a rare Guru-oriented individual (Gurmukh) attains this understanding, and the Supreme Himself reveals His own Name within their very heart.
tan man seetal hoiaa rasanaa har saadh aaiaa ||
Their body and mind become calm and tranquil (due to the Supreme's love), and their tongue tastes the sublime bliss of the Divine Name.
sabadhe hee naau uoopajai sabadhe mel milaiaa ||
It is only through the Gur Shabad (Word) that the Divine Name is manifested within the heart, and it is the Shabad itself that unites a person with the Name.
bin sabadhai sabh jag bauraanaa birathaa janam gavaiaa ||
Without the Gur Shabad (Word), the entire world goes mad (after worldly illusions) and wastes this human life in vain.
a(n)mrit eko sabadh hai naanak gurmukh paiaa ||2||
The one Shabad (Word) alone is the Amrit (the nectar of immortality that never dies); O Nanak, only a Gur-oriented individual (Gurmukh) can attain it.
