ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
gur kai sabadh bhare bha(n)ddaaraa ||
ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
naam dhan bin hor sabh bikh jaan ||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਜਲੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥

ਸਬਦੁ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥
sabadh dheepak varatai tih loi ||
ਜੋ ਚਾਖੈ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jo chaakhai so niramal hoi ||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥
niramal naam haumai mal dhoi ||
ਸਾਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
saachee bhagat sadhaa sukh hoi ||2||
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥
jin har ras chaakhiaa so har jan log ||
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਦੇ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
tis sadhaa harakh naahee kadhe sog ||
ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਅਵਰਾ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥
aap mukat avaraa mukat karaavai ||
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥

ਸਦਾ ਧਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ ਧੰਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ॥
Forever cherish the priceless wealth of the Lord's Name in the depths of your heart.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t jineh pratipaale ||
ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
He who nurtures and sustains all living beings.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਪਾਏ ॥
mukat padhaarath tin kau paae ||
ਮੁਕਤੀ ਰੂਪੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
They attain the ultimate blessing of liberation.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੧॥
har kai naam rate liv laae ||1||
ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਰੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
who attune their minds to the vibrant love of the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
gur sevaa te har naam dhan paavai ||
ਇਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਗੁਰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ (ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
One acquires this priceless wealth of the Name through the grace of serving and meditating upon the Divine.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ (ਸੋਝੀ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
Meditating upon the Divine Name illuminates the mind with divine wisdom.
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਗੂੜਾ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਹੋਇ ॥
eih har ra(n)g gooRaa dhan pir hoi ||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ (ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ) ਰੰਗ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
This deep and everlasting dye of Divine Love imbues the bride (seeker) who is truly devoted to the Eternal Husband.
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
saa(n)t seegaar raave prabh soi ||
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਜਗਿਆਸੂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਅ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥
Wearing the ornament of profound peace, the devoted bride (seeker) is united with her Divine Husband.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥

ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਹਉਮੈ) ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਜਲਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਦੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
Trapped in the ego, no individual can attain union with the Divine; a person can only dissolve this pride through His Name and offer a heartfelt prayer for the Beloved's grace."
ਮੂਲਹੁ ਭੁਲਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥੨॥

ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂਲ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਅ ਕੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ ॥

ਜਾਂ

ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਅਸਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ (ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਣਾ) ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਅ ਕੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
Oblivious to their Divine Source, a mortal utterly wastes this precious life.

Losing sight of their true calling to connect with the Sacred Name, a person throws this precious life away.
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
gur te saat sahaj sukh baanee ||
ਗੁਰੁ (ਕਰਤਾਰ) ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ (ਨਾਮੁ) ਦੁਆਰਾ (ਜਗਿਆਸੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪੂਰਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
The True Word of the Divine blesses the seeker's mind with complete serenity, stability, and intuitive happiness.
ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
sevaa saachee naam samaanee ||
ਉਹ ਸੇਵਾ (ਜਾਂ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਹੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
Pure is the devotion that completely immerses the mind within the Divine Name.
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
sabadh milai preetam sadhaa dhiaae ||
ਗੁਰੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਨਾਮੁ) ਮਿਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
It is only by attaining the True Word and Divine Name that one can meditate upon the Beloved forever.
ਸਾਚ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥
saach naam vaddiaaiee paae ||3||
ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
Connecting with the Eternal Name, the seeker attains true greatness and divine praise.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
aape karataa jug jug soi ||
ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
He, the Divine, intimately pervades every epoch and expanse of time.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
nadhar kare melaavaa hoi ||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ (ਜੀਵ 'ਤੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ (ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
Only when the Almighty casts His merciful gaze does the seeker experience a genuine union with the Divine.
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
gurbaanee te har ma(n)n vasaae ||
ਗੁਰੁ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਾਣੀ (ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ) ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
It is only by reflecting upon the True Word (Naam) that a person can enshrine the Lord's Name within the mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
O Nanak, fully absorbed in the Eternal Name of the Divine, the seekers are united with His own Divine Presence through His grace.
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਤੀਜਾ ॥
dhanaasaree mahalaa teejaa teejaa ||
ਜਗੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਮੈਲੋ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਇ ॥
jag mailaa mailo hoi jai ||
ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਇ ॥
aavai jai dhoojai lobhai ||
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਸਭ ਪਰਜ ਵਿਗੋਈ ॥
dhoojai bhai sabh paraj vigoiee ||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੧॥
manmukh choTaa khai apunee pat khoiee ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਨੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਏ ॥
bhagat kare jan vaddiaaiee paae ||
ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੨॥

ਸਾਚੇ ਕਾ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
