ਜੋ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
jo too dheh su kahaa suaamee mai moorakh kahan na jaiee ||1||
ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

ਜੈਸੇ ਸਚ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਉ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਅਸਨਾਈ ॥

ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਆਖਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
jo tudh bhaavai soiee aakhaa til teree vaddiaaiee ||3||
ਏਤੇ ਕੂਕਰ ਹਉ ਬੇਗਾਨਾ ਭਉਕਾ ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਤਾਈ ॥

ਮਨੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਤਨੁ ਵੇਸ ਕਲੰਦਰੁ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵਾ ॥
man ma(n)dhar tan ves kala(n)dhar ghaT hee teerath naavaa ||
ਤਨ ਤੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਲੰਦਰਾਂ (ਵਾਂਗ ਬਦਲ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ) ਵੇਸ (ਕਪੜੇ) ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਅਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂ ਹੀ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਸਮਝ ਪਾਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਏਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਗਹਿਰਾਈ ਚ ਹੀ ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾਉਣ ਨੂ ਹੀ ਤੀਰਥ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Even though on the body I wear different different garbs like the Kalandars, I consider my mind to be the home-temple of God and keep it pure and clean, and taking a dip in the depths of this very purified mind alone do I consider to be a pilgrimage.
ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਾ ॥੧॥
ek sabadh merai praan basat hai baahuR janam na aavaa ||1||
(ਹੁਣ) ਮੇਰੇ ਧੁਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਹੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨਰਕ ਸਵਰਗ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਕਾਲ ਮਾਇਆਜਾਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਚੱਕਰ ਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ।

(ਜਿਹਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰਆਤ / ਆਦਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਪਜਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਹਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਅੰਤ / ਫਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਅਮਰ ਚ ਅਮਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ)
(Now) deep within my life being, the word Ek resides, now I will not enter the cycle of births, karmas, hell, heaven, etc., bound by the delusive matrix projected by illusion.

ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
man bedhiaa dhiaal setee meree maiee ||
ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਫੱਟਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਮਨ ਨੂ ਏਸ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਨੇ ਸਿਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
O my mother, this compassionate One has stitched my torn mind.
ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਪੀਰ ਪਰਾਈ ॥
kaun jaanai peer paraiee ||
ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮਤਲੱਬ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਵੀ ਸਿਰਫ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਜਾਣ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਕਰ ਤਾ)
Who else can know someone else's pain. (Meaning, except for You no one else can know, just like only You were able to know mine and You made me peaceful and carefree)
ਹਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਚਿੰਤ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

(ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਓਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਚ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ) ਏਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਫਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੋਂ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਭੱਲਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਬੰਦਾ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਫਿਕਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਥੱਲੇ ਐਵੇਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੀ ਚੱਕੀ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਣੀ ਮੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਭੱਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)
(Now I only follow Your command, and accept that then whatever happens will happen only in accordance to your will) Because of this, now I do not worry about strangers. (Because at the end you are the doer only and only You can set everything right, man in the name of worrying about others uselessly carries around Ego and while trying to do good with his own intellect, ends up causing further harm)
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
agam agochar alakh apaaraa chi(n)taa karahu hamaaree ||
(ਹੁਣ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕੀ ਜਿਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ) ਅਗਮ ਗਾਯਬ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਕਿਹ ਕੇ ਰੱਬ ਮੰਨਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਉਸੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਤਰਲਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ ਕੇ ਹੈ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਵੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰੋ॥ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਏਸ ਲਈ ਏਧਰ ਉਧਰ ਹਜ ਉਮਰੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਮੁਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਸਾਧਾ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਚਲੀਏ ਜਾਦੂ ਇਲਮ ਧੂਣੇ ਤੰਤਰ ਮੰਤਰ ਉਪਾਅ ਆਦਿ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਕੁਰਾਨਾਂ ਪੜਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਛ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਲ ਦਾ ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ)
(Now Guru Nanak is telling other people that) whom you trying to call God by calling unknown unreachable incomprehensible beyond, pray to That alone and make supplication and plead, saying O Creator, take care of me please. (Because no one else can do this, therefore going on hajj, umrah, pilgrimages, to shrines, to so called sadhus, saints, to peers, getting magic, spells, dhune, jugnas, tantra, yogas like kundalini, etc, and reading Vedas and book will accomplish nothing, nor will the pain of the heart be removed.)
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
jal thal maheeal bharipur leenaa ghaT ghaT jot tum(h)aaree ||2||
ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਜਲ ਅਤੇ ਥਲ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਭਰਭੂਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਂ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
You who have filed the water and land and permeates within that, and are the Source of vibrant light in every bit.
ਸਿਖ ਮਤਿ ਸਭ ਬੁਧਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਛਾਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
sikh mat sabh budh tum(h)aaree ma(n)dhir chhaavaa tere ||
ਮੈਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ ਨੂ ਹੀ ਸਿਖ (ਸਿੱਖਿਆ) ਅਤੇ ਭਲੀ ਮੱਤ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਏਨਾ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਨੂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I consider all the wisdom received from You alone as my teaching and good counsel or ideology, and I bodies bodies as Your temple.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਨਿਤ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੩॥
tujh bin avar na jaanaa mere saahibaa gun gaavaa nit tere ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਸਤੂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਲਾਹ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I don't consider anything or anyone else besides you O my Lord and always sings your praises.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ਸਰਬ ਚਿੰਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਸੇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t sabh saran tum(h)aaree sarab chi(n)t tudh paase ||
(ਹੈ ਕਰਤਾਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੇ ਹੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ॥
(ਜਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ/ਪਾਸੇ ਚ ਆ ਸਭ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਣ/ਭੁਲ ਜਾਣ)
(ਜਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ/ਪਾਸੇ ਚ ਆ ਸਭ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਣ/ਭੁਲ ਜਾਣ)
(O Lord of Grace) all living beings enter Your sanctuary and, turning towards You make them become free from all worries.

jo tudh bhaavai soiee cha(n)gaa ik naanak kee aradhaase ||4||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕੋ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ’ਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ, ਅਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਣ।
(ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਝੋਰਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ’ਚ ਉਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਬਸ਼ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ’ਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ)
(ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਝੋਰਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ’ਚ ਉਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਬਸ਼ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ’ਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ)
Nanak's only prayer is that for the sake of humanity, people may come to know Your Hukam and walk upon it, and then whatever happens, accept it as Your Grace and as good.
